27.10.25 FIFTH NATIONAL SEMINAR Italian Schools Associated with UNESCO ASPnet
As part of the Italian UNESCO ASPnet Schools Project promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Fifth National Seminar entitled Italian UNESCO ASPnet Schools and the Whole-School Approach: UNESCO Values, School Governance, Transformative Education was held in Rome on 27 October 2025.
Following the perspective outlined in the Toolkit for ASPnet Members, the training initiative for school leaders and teachers from both primary and secondary education focused on the Whole-School Approach and its impact on all dimensions of school life — from governance and curriculum to infrastructure management and community participation.
The first session included academic contributions in the field of pedagogy and an overview of UNESCO documents on the Whole-School Approach, highlighting its most relevant features for advancing UNESCO values and, in particular, the three key ASPnet pillars: Education for Sustainable Development, Global Citizenship Education, and Intercultural and Heritage Learning.
As part of the second session, schools exchanged insights and collaboratively planned governance practices and learning experiences aligned with these principles, while strengthening the role and identity of the Italian ASPnet network both nationally and — most importantly — internationally. In particular, Ms M. Fasanelli, ASPnet focal point a Liceo N. Machiavelli,  presented the official Ages of Globalization website and explained how its rich and up-to-date materials can be integrated into Civic Education programmes, especially in Italian upper-secondary schools.
Nell’ambito del Progetto Scuole Italiane Associate UNESCO ASPnet, promosso dal Ministero dell’Istruzione e del Merito, si è svolto a Roma il Quinto Seminario Nazionale intitolato Scuole Italiane Associate UNESCO ASPnet e Whole-School Approach: Valori UNESCO, Governance Scolastica, Educazione Trasformativa il 27 ottobre 2025.
Seguendo le indicazioni del Toolkit for ASPnet Members, l’iniziativa formativa per dirigenti scolastici e docenti del primo e secondo ciclo di istruzione si è concentrata sul Whole-School Approach e sul suo impatto su tutte le dimensioni della vita scolastica — dalla governance e dal curriculum alla gestione delle strutture e alla partecipazione della comunità .
La prima sessione ha incluso contributi accademici nel campo della pedagogia e una panoramica dei documenti UNESCO sul Whole-School Approach, evidenziandone gli aspetti più rilevanti per promuovere i valori UNESCO e, in particolare, i tre pilastri chiave dell’ASPnet: Educazione allo Sviluppo Sostenibile, Educazione alla Cittadinanza Globale e Apprendimento Interculturale e del Patrimonio.
Nell’ambito della seconda sessione, le scuole hanno condiviso riflessioni e pianificato congiuntamente pratiche di governance e percorsi di apprendimento allineati a questi principi, rafforzando al contempo il ruolo e l’identità della Rete delle Scuole Italiane ASPnet, sia a livello nazionale sia — cosa più importante — internazionale. In particolare, la Prof.ssa  M. Fasanelli, ASPnet focal point al Liceo N. Machiavelli, ha presentato il sito ufficiale di Ages of Globalization e ha spiegato come i suoi materiali ricchi e aggiornati possano essere integrati nei percorsi di Educazione Civica, specialmente nelle scuole secondarie superiori italiane.
