Two students from the Casimirianum in Coburg, Germany, have returned home after spending a month in Italy, hosted by two Italian families from Liceo Machiavelli in Rome. During their stay, the students fully participated in all the activities of a class where German is taught, engaging actively with their Italian peers.
Their presence in the classroom provided an invaluable opportunity for linguistic enhancement and promoted continuous comparisons of educational systems, cultural habits, national customs, and ideas. Italian students were able to experience firsthand the differences and similarities between the two school systems, while German students gained insight into daily life and learning in Italy.
This mobility experience represents a significant orientation and dissemination opportunity for the Erasmus+ program. By hosting international students, the Italian school community not only strengthens language skills but also fosters intercultural awareness and collaborative learning. Such exchanges encourage students to broaden their horizons, develop empathy, and acquire a deeper understanding of European cultural diversity.
